What's Happening?
The Canadian Space Agency's astronaut Joshua Kutryk was initially assigned to Boeing's Starliner-1 mission, which was intended to transition the Starliner from a test vehicle to an operational part of NASA's astronaut rotation. However, due to significant
thruster problems encountered during the 2024 Crew Flight Test, NASA decided to convert the Starliner-1 mission from a crewed flight to a cargo-only mission. This decision was made to allow further testing of the propulsion system before attempting another crewed mission. As a result, Kutryk has been reassigned to SpaceX's Crew-13 mission, scheduled for no earlier than mid-September 2026, marking his first spaceflight.
