Sr. Maria Goretti Domovich, a dedicated member of the School Sisters of St. Francis of Christ the King, also known as the Lemont Franciscans, passed away on December 16, 2025. Born Mary Domovich in Chicago,
Illinois, on March 19, 1933, she devoted 71 years to her religious community. Throughout her life, she served in various educational roles, teaching and administering at parish schools within the Archdiocese of Chicago and the Diocese of Joliet, as well as at Mt. Assisi Academy in Lemont. Her passing marks the end of a long and impactful career in education and religious service.

Following her passing, a visitation will be held at the Mount Assisi Convent Chapel in Lemont on December 20, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will follow at 11:00 a.m., with burial at St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Lemont. These events will provide an opportunity for family, friends, and the community to honor her life and contributions. The Lemont Franciscans and those who knew her will likely continue to celebrate her legacy through their ongoing educational and community work.
