Two women from Monroe County, Tennessee, Shaleah Leann Peels and Kyleigh Marie Shell, have been arrested on charges of theft of property and attempted theft. The arrests followed an investigation by the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) into the disappearance
of two horses from a property in June 2026. One of the horses, an Appaloosa valued at approximately $5,000, was stolen and later sold online to a buyer in Northeast Tennessee. The suspects attempted to steal a second horse but were unsuccessful. Livestock detectives were able to recover the stolen horse and return it to its owner. The women surrendered to authorities and were charged accordingly.
