What's Happening?
The Community Actions AWARE program in Evansville has launched its annual “Koats for Kids” campaign, collecting winter jackets, hats, mittens, and boots for low-income families within the Evansville Community School District. The program, established
in 1998 by Community Action, Inc. of Rock and Walworth Counties, aims to address the needs of the growing low-income population in Evansville. Community members are encouraged to donate gently used winter clothing in good condition. There is a particular need for warm coats and snow pants for school-aged children, specifically sizes 7 through 14-16, which are consistently in short supply. The program does not accept donations of sweatshirts, fleece, or other non-winter clothing items. Collection bins will be available from September 8 through October 1 at various local businesses and churches, including Congregational United Church of Christ, Creekside Place, Eager Free Public Library, and others. Congregational United Church of Christ is also specifically collecting hats, waterproof mittens, and waterproof gloves.
