What's Happening?
Hilton has signed an agreement with THE SANKEI BUILDING CO., LTD. and HASEKO Real Estate Development, Inc. to open an LXR Hotels & Resorts property in Hakone Gora, Kanagawa, Japan. Scheduled to open in summer
2028, this will be the first Hilton-managed hotel in Hakone. The resort will be located in a scenic area known for its hot springs and cultural landmarks, offering guests access to natural hot springs and experiences reflecting local culture. This development is part of Hilton's strategy to expand its luxury portfolio in Japan, following the opening of ROKU KYOTO, LXR Hotels & Resorts in 2021.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of Hilton's luxury brand, LXR Hotels & Resorts, into Hakone Gora underscores the growing demand for high-end, experience-led travel destinations in Japan. By situating the resort in a culturally rich and naturally beautiful area, Hilton aims to attract travelers seeking wellness and cultural experiences. This move aligns with broader trends in the hospitality industry, where there is an increasing focus on providing unique, localized experiences to guests. The development also highlights Japan's appeal as a luxury travel destination, potentially boosting tourism and local economies.
