What's Happening?
Students at New College Lanarkshire are set to participate in a trial offering financial rewards for recycling cans and plastic bottles using Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs). The initiative, launched in collaboration with environmental charity Keep Scotland Beautiful and Coca-Cola Europacific Partners (CCEP), provides a 20p reward for each eligible item recycled. The scheme aims to assess the impact of financial incentives on recycling behavior and increase the volume of items collected through RVMs. Additionally, three student households will document their experiences with the Deposit Return Scheme over a two-week period, providing insights into recycling habits.
