What's Happening?
An appeal to create a new playground at Hartburn Primary School in Stockton has successfully raised over £100,000 as a tribute to the school's beloved headteacher, Claire Park, who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The fundraising efforts,
led by the Prince Regent Street Trust and Friends of Hartburn Primary, included a charity ball attended by Claire Park as the guest of honor. The funds will be used to develop 'Mrs Park’s Park,' a playground designed to provide a safe and enriching environment for children. The initiative has garnered significant community support, with additional events planned to further enhance the playground.
Why It's Important?
This initiative highlights the power of community action and the impact of collective efforts in honoring individuals who have made significant contributions to education and community life. The successful fundraising not only provides a lasting legacy for Claire Park but also raises awareness about MND. The project exemplifies how communities can come together to support meaningful causes, fostering a sense of unity and purpose. It also underscores the importance of creating safe and engaging spaces for children, contributing to their development and well-being.
