What's Happening?
The Boissevain and Morton Foundation has distributed over $124,000 in grants to community organizations during its annual granting evening, coinciding with the Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge Week. The challenge, supported by The Winnipeg Foundation and the Manitoba government,
boosts the funds available for community projects. This year, the foundation awarded grants to 23 projects, including scholarships and bursaries. The event also featured the Youth in Philanthropy group, which contributed to the grant distribution, emphasizing themes of connection and community impact.
Why It's Important?
Community foundations play a vital role in supporting local projects and initiatives, fostering development and engagement. The Endow Manitoba Giving Challenge amplifies the impact of these foundations by increasing available funds, allowing for more comprehensive support of community needs. The involvement of youth in philanthropy highlights the importance of engaging younger generations in charitable activities, promoting a culture of giving and community involvement. These efforts contribute to the overall well-being and growth of communities, ensuring that local organizations can continue to thrive and address pressing issues.
