What's Happening?
A wildfire in Mount Rainier National Park, known as the Grand Park 2 Fire, has expanded to approximately 200 acres and remains uncontrolled. The fire is located about 1.3 miles southwest of Lake Eleanor on the northeast side of Mount Rainier in Pierce
County, Washington. Due to the fire, the National Park Service has closed access to the Sunrise and White River areas from State Route 410. A Type 3 Incident Management Team and additional aviation resources are being deployed to manage the situation. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and the affected areas will remain closed until deemed safe.
