Libya's army chief of staff, Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad, along with four other Libyan officials, died in a plane crash near Ankara, Turkey. The crash occurred shortly after the business jet took off from
Ankara's Esenboga airport, heading to Tripoli. The aircraft requested an emergency landing but lost contact soon after. The wreckage was found by Turkish gendarmerie near the village of Kesikkavak. The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, described the incident as a tragic loss for the nation and the military. Al-Haddad was a respected military figure known for his discipline and commitment, having played a significant role during the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi.
