A study has demonstrated the long-term benefits of a real-time, remotely supervised high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program for adolescents with obesity. Conducted over six months, the program was
integrated into a multi-component clinical obesity treatment and involved 96 adolescents. Participants in the experimental group showed significant improvements in body composition, including reductions in BMI and waist circumference, as well as enhancements in flexibility and muscular endurance. These benefits were sustained for at least 12 months after the intervention ended. The study also explored the role of motivation in program engagement, finding that appearance-driven goals were negatively associated with sustained participation.
