Germany has decided to expand its fleet of Airbus H145M helicopters by exercising an option to purchase an additional 20 units, bringing the total order to 82 helicopters. This decision was announced by Airbus Helicopters
on December 15. The German Army (Heer) is set to receive 72 of these helicopters, while the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) special operations forces will receive 10. The initial contract for 62 helicopters was signed in December 2023, with deliveries expected to be completed by the end of 2028. The first H145M helicopter was delivered to the German armed forces in November 2024, and the first unit for light attack roles was delivered earlier in 2025. These helicopters will be stationed at various locations, including the International Helicopter Training Centre in Bückeburg and other Heer and Luftwaffe bases.
