The Region of Central Greece has initiated a new program aimed at integrating Internet of Things (IoT) technologies into agricultural production. This project, titled 'Applications Using IoT Technologies to Support Local Agricultural Production with Innovative Tools,' is backed by an initial budget of 434,000 euros. The initiative seeks to design, install, and operate a comprehensive system to improve agricultural practices across the region. Key components of the project include precision farming applications for open-field and tree crops, web-based management and smart greenhouse monitoring systems, an integrated 'green' traceability system, and smart biosensor systems to assess livestock welfare and detect health issues. Data collected through sensors will be centralized in an information management system, where it will be analyzed to identify best practices and recommend strategies for farming and livestock management.
