What's Happening?
Kazakhstan is set to launch pilot projects for self-driving cars and delivery drones as part of its digital technology advancement strategy. The initiative, led by the Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev, will involve global tech companies
and is scheduled for implementation in the second quarter of 2026. Major platforms like inDrive and Yandex, including its regional arm Yandex Qazaqstan, are expected to participate. Testing will occur in key regions such as Astana, Almaty, and the Akmola Region. Concurrently, a private initiative involving Freedom Lifestyle will develop a separate pilot project for delivery drones, with testing slated to begin in Almaty.
