What's Happening?
Micron Biomedical, a clinical-stage life science company, has been awarded a $4.5 million contract by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH). The contract is aimed at developing
the world's first dissolvable microarray medical countermeasure against radiation injury. This innovative approach is designed to improve national preparedness against nuclear threats by enabling rapid deployment of treatments for Acute Radiation Syndrome (ARS). The technology involves a thermostable, needle-free delivery system that can be administered by minimally trained personnel or self-administered, thus facilitating quick response in emergency scenarios.
