What's Happening?
Larvotto Resources Ltd has signed an Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Management (EPCM) contract with MACA-Interquip-Mintrex (MIQM) for the upgrade and refurbishment of its Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Project in New South Wales. The project aims to enhance the processing plant's capacity and efficiency, with a focus on strategic antimony production supported by gold revenue. The upgrade includes a ~0.525 Mt/y plant enhancement, featuring an ultra-fine grinding circuit and a filtered tailings circuit. The site has restored grid power by repairing the main transformer, which had been inoperable since January 2023, thus providing a stable and higher-capacity power supply for construction and commissioning activities.
Why It's Important?
The upgrade of the Hillgrove Antimony-Gold Project is significant as it positions Larvotto Resources to become a major Western producer of strategic antimony, a critical mineral in high demand. The project is timely, given the current record-price environments for both antimony and gold, and aligns with government priorities to secure stable supply chains and stockpiles. The refurbishment and expansion of the processing plant not only enhance production capabilities but also offer a competitive advantage in the market. This development is crucial for Larvotto's long-term strategy to ensure a reliable supply of critical minerals, which are essential for various industries, including electronics and defense.
What's Next?
Larvotto Resources is set to continue its site works, including earthworks and the installation of new plant equipment. The company is finalizing logistics for transporting essential items and building its site team, with senior staff already in place. The focus will be on recruiting operational department teams to support the project's progression. As the upgrade moves forward, Larvotto aims to leverage its head-start in production to capitalize on market opportunities and further explore potential resource expansions to extend the mine's life.
Beyond the Headlines
The Hillgrove project not only contributes to the local economy by providing jobs but also supports the community in Armidale, where all current employees are based. Larvotto's commitment to local engagement and support reflects a broader trend of companies prioritizing community involvement and sustainable practices. This approach may enhance the company's reputation and foster stronger relationships with stakeholders, potentially leading to more collaborative and successful project outcomes.
