What's Happening?
A study led by Korea University Ansan Hospital has demonstrated that transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) can significantly improve nonmotor symptoms in Parkinson's disease patients. The research involved 20 patients who underwent 10 sessions
of tDCS, resulting in notable improvements in depression, anxiety, and apathy. The study also incorporated wearable technology to monitor changes in patients' physical activity, revealing increased daily activity levels post-treatment. These findings suggest that tDCS, a noninvasive neuromodulation therapy, could be a safe and effective adjunctive treatment for Parkinson's disease.
