review explored proposed gut-brain mechanisms, such as neurotransmitter modulation, immune regulation, inflammation reduction, short-chain fatty acid production, and improved gut barrier function. Specific probiotic species, particularly Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, have been linked to improvements in various clinical outcomes.
