What's Happening?
Alstom S.A. has secured a €1.03 billion contract with Comboios de Portugal (CP) to supply 153 Adessia Stream trains, marking the largest train acquisition in Portugal's history. This initiative is part of CP's program to renew the country's rail fleet
and expand capacity on key passenger routes. The contract, initially signed in October 2025 for 117 trains, was expanded to include 36 additional trains. The first trains are expected to enter service in 2029. The new fleet will enhance suburban connections in Lisbon, Porto, and Cascais, and improve services on regional lines. Alstom will also establish a manufacturing facility in Portugal, creating approximately 300 direct jobs.
