A newly formed task force in Wyoming is tackling the issue of rising health insurance costs for state residents. The Health Insurance Affordability Task Force, created for the 2026 interim session, convened for the first time to explore solutions to reduce
insurance expenses. The task force, co-chaired by state Rep. Lloyd Larsen and Sen. Tara Nethercott, includes legislators, state officials, and healthcare stakeholders. They are examining the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) on insurance coverage and pricing. The ACA, known as Obamacare, introduced standardized insurance tiers and essential health benefits, but challenges remain, particularly for those in the Medicaid coverage gap and individuals earning above 400% of the federal poverty level.
