What's Happening?
York Unlocked, an annual event now in its fourth year, is set to provide public access to over 50 historic and unusual sites in York, including buildings that are rarely open to the public. The event, running from September 27-28, allows visitors to explore landmarks such as a 16th Century tower, a Masonic Hall, and an 18th Century windmill. Organized by a not-for-profit community company, York Unlocked aims to offer residents and tourists the opportunity to appreciate the city's architectural heritage. Pre-booked tickets for certain tours have sold out, but many sites remain open for drop-in visits, including the Assembly Rooms and Fishergate Postern Tower.
