What's Happening?
The U.S. Army is moving forward with plans to integrate high-energy lasers as a permanent fixture in its counter-drone arsenal. This initiative, known as the Enduring High Energy Laser (E-HEL) program, is being developed in collaboration with AeroVironment.
The program aims to establish a directed-energy weapon system capable of neutralizing drones ranging from small to medium sizes. The E-HEL is designed to provide a reusable, cost-effective solution to counter the increasing threat of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) without depleting missile inventories.
