What's Happening?
The annual Ride to Remember, a statewide bicycle ride in Indiana, is honoring fallen officers by traversing nearly 1,000 miles across the state. The event, which began at the Indiana Law Enforcement Memorial in Indianapolis, aims to commemorate the lives
of officers who have died in the line of duty. Participants, including family members of the fallen, ride through various communities, meeting with survivors and visiting memorials. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the ride, which started in 2002 as a journey to the nation’s capital. The ride pays tribute to two officers whose deaths were recognized in 2025: Reserve Deputy Sheriff John C. Stahl III and Cpl. Blake Adair Reynolds. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the families of fallen officers.
Why It's Important?
The Ride to Remember highlights the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers and provides a platform for healing and remembrance for their families. It fosters a sense of community and support among participants, many of whom have personally experienced loss. The event also raises awareness about the risks faced by officers and the importance of supporting their families. By engaging with local communities, the ride strengthens ties between law enforcement and the public, promoting understanding and appreciation for the challenges faced by officers.
What's Next?
The ride will continue through various Indiana towns, concluding with a ceremony at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. As the event progresses, it is expected to draw more attention and support from local communities. Participants will continue to engage with survivors and honor the memories of fallen officers. The event's organizers hope to expand its reach and impact in future years, potentially involving more participants and raising additional funds for the cause.
