Extell Development has filed plans with the Department of City Planning to construct a 71-story mixed-use tower at the site of the former Wellington Hotel in Midtown, New York City. The proposed building will include 130 residential units and 156 hotel
rooms. Extell aims to secure a zoning bonus by offering improvements to the nearby 50th Street subway station, including new elevators and entrance stairs. The project follows Extell's purchase of the Wellington Hotel for $94.5 million in 2022, after the hotel closed during the Covid-19 pandemic.
