What's Happening?
A new study hub has opened in Hay, New South Wales, co-located with the TAFE NSW Connected Learning Centre. This initiative, supported by the Australian Government and the NSW Government, aims to provide high-speed internet, dedicated study spaces, and academic
support to students pursuing tertiary education. The Hay centre is part of a broader network that has supported around 7,000 students since 2017, focusing on building a skilled workforce in health, education, and community services. The hub facilitates greater participation in higher education, particularly among underrepresented groups, by offering accessible education pathways.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of the Hay study hub addresses regional workforce shortages by enabling students to study locally and contribute to their communities. By co-locating with TAFE NSW, the hub offers seamless transitions between vocational training and university education, enhancing educational accessibility. This model supports regional development by retaining skilled graduates in local areas, thereby strengthening the workforce in critical sectors. Additionally, it promotes educational equity by providing opportunities for students who might otherwise face barriers to higher education.
