Nissan has unveiled the Ao-Solar Extender system for its Sakura kei EV, showcasing the prototype at the Japan Mobility Show 2025. The system, installed on Japan's top-selling EV, generates enough solar
electricity to power up to 3,000km of driving annually. The roof-mounted solar panel charges the vehicle during driving and when parked, with an additional panel extending outward to increase power generation potential. This innovation aims to reduce reliance on grid-based charging and enhance EV ownership convenience, serving as an emergency power source during disasters.
