A recent study conducted at Shanghai Children’s Medical Center has developed a nomogram prediction model to improve the diagnosis of pediatric gastrointestinal graft-versus-host disease (GI-GVHD) following
bone marrow stem cell transplantation. The research involved a retrospective analysis of patients treated between 2018 and 2023, focusing on clinical symptoms, gastrointestinal sites, and endoscopic approaches. The study identified several key indicators for GI-GVHD, including skin rejection, apoptotic corpuscles, mucosal edema, and tortoise shell-like mucosa. The findings suggest that gastroscopy combined with colonoscopy offers the highest diagnostic accuracy, with transverse colonic mucosal edema and tortoise shell-like mucosa being particularly effective in diagnosis.
