What's Happening?
As a Gold Partner for the 2027 International Horticultural Expo (GREEN×EXPO 2027), the ANA Group will begin introducing aircraft featuring special decals with the official logo and other designs starting January 2027. Up to 30 aircraft will be part of this
initiative, operating on both domestic and international routes. On domestic flights, the official character 'Tunktunk' will be applied to the ANA Furusato JET, which already features liveries of Japan's 47 prefectural flowers. The ANA Future Promise Prop will also operate with the newly added official logo. For international routes, up to 28 aircraft will display official logo decals near their doors to raise global awareness. Additionally, ANA will introduce specially designed paper cups and aprons for cabin attendants and promote the exposition through official content onboard.
Why It's Important?
This initiative by ANA Group is significant for promoting international awareness and engagement with the GREEN×EXPO 2027. By leveraging its extensive network, ANA will reach a broad global audience, generating excitement and interest in the expo. For the U.S., this could translate into increased tourism to Japan, fostering cultural exchange and economic benefits. The expo itself, focusing on horticulture, aligns with growing global interests in sustainability, environmental conservation, and green technologies, areas where the U.S. also has significant stakes and contributions. ANA's role as a Gold Partner highlights the importance of corporate involvement in major international events and their potential to drive global participation.
What's Next?
The ANA Group will gradually introduce the special-decal aircraft starting in January 2027, leading up to the GREEN×EXPO 2027. Details of the various promotional initiatives and campaign information will be released progressively on a dedicated website. Passengers on both domestic and international ANA flights will begin to see these specially branded aircraft, along with themed onboard materials like paper cups and aprons. The airline's efforts will continue throughout the period leading up to and during the expo, aiming to maximize visibility and encourage attendance from around the world.
Beyond the Headlines
Beyond the immediate promotional aspect, ANA's involvement in GREEN×EXPO 2027 reflects a broader trend of corporations aligning with global sustainability and environmental initiatives. By promoting a horticultural expo, ANA is subtly reinforcing its commitment to environmental awareness and corporate social responsibility. This partnership also serves as a form of cultural diplomacy, showcasing Japan's dedication to green innovation and international collaboration. For the aviation industry, such initiatives can help balance its environmental impact by associating with events that promote ecological consciousness, potentially influencing passenger perceptions and encouraging more sustainable travel practices in the long run.
