What's Happening?
The Women for Zero Hunger Program 2026, co-led by Women in Africa (WIA) Philanthropy and Stop Hunger, is inviting applications from African-based nonprofit organizations. This initiative aims to enhance women's economic empowerment and food security across
the continent. Eligible organizations must be nonprofits operating in specific African countries and engaged in activities that promote women's economic autonomy and contribute to food security. Selected organizations will receive project funding, capacity building, and increased visibility through strategic mentoring and operational support. The program emphasizes a transparent selection process, including webinars, full applications, and interviews.
Why It's Important?
This program represents a significant investment in addressing food insecurity and promoting gender equality in Africa. By empowering women and enhancing food systems, the initiative seeks to create sustainable pathways to end hunger. The support provided to selected organizations will enable them to scale their impact, fostering economic growth and stability in their communities. This aligns with broader global efforts to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to gender equality and zero hunger. The program's focus on capacity building and impact measurement also ensures that funded projects are both effective and sustainable.
