What's Happening?
Galerie Gabriel, in collaboration with CMS Collection, has opened an exhibit titled 'Crossed Trajectories: Jean Royère, Roberto Platé, and the Global Journey of Designers and Artists' at Sutton Tower in New
York City. Curated by Brazilian interior designer Andre Mellone, the exhibit showcases over 100 works from the midcentury modern design period, including pieces by Jean Royère, Roberto Platé, and others. The exhibit aims to highlight the cultural dialogue and global influence of post-World War II design movements. The exhibit runs until April 17.
Why It's Important?
The exhibit underscores the enduring influence of midcentury modern design, which continues to shape contemporary aesthetics and cultural narratives. By showcasing works from influential designers like Jean Royère and Roberto Platé, the exhibit provides insight into the historical and cultural exchanges that defined the era. This celebration of design heritage not only enriches the cultural landscape of New York City but also fosters appreciation for the contributions of émigré designers who blended European traditions with local crafts.
