The City of Hartford and the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation have announced the recipients of the 2026 Love Your Block (LYB) initiative grants. This marks the seventh year of the program, which aims to revitalize neighborhoods through community and resident-led
projects. Thirteen projects have been selected to receive nearly $180,000 in grants. The program received approximately 43 proposals from various organizations, including nonprofits, faith organizations, Neighborhood Revitalization Zones (NRZs), and individual residents. A panel comprising Hartford residents, city staff, and Greater Hartford Gives staff reviewed these proposals and selected the grant recipients. The projects range from restoring basketball courts and painting murals to creating pollinator gardens, new landscaping, and community gardening initiatives. Ten projects will receive Greater Hartford Gives community grant awards totaling $170,880 over one year, while three resident grants totaling $8,496 will be funded through a pass-through grant to Hartford Next. Hartford Mayor Arunan Arulampalam expressed gratitude for the foundation's continued support, emphasizing that the program empowers residents to lead change in their own neighborhoods.
