What's Happening?
St. John's University is refining its recruiting strategy to balance high school prospects with transfer portal acquisitions. While the university remains active in the transfer portal, it is also focusing
on recruiting talented high school players. This approach includes targeting top prospects like Adam Oumiddoch and Kaden House, both four-star, top-50 guards. Oumiddoch is scheduled to visit the campus soon, and House will visit during the first weekend of the regular season, coinciding with a major game against Alabama at Madison Square Garden.
Why It's Important?
The strategic shift by St. John's reflects the evolving landscape of college basketball recruiting, where the transfer portal has become a significant factor. By balancing high school recruitment with transfer portal activity, St. John's aims to build a competitive team while maintaining long-term player development. This approach could influence other universities to adopt similar strategies, impacting the dynamics of college basketball recruitment and team composition. The focus on high school talent ensures a pipeline of young players who can contribute to the team's success over multiple seasons.
