What's Happening?
Marlee Lauffer, the president of the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation and Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, has announced her retirement effective June
19. Lauffer joined the hospital in 2015, where she has played a dual role in leading the foundation's fundraising and advocacy programs, as well as overseeing the hospital's marketing and communications. During her tenure, she spearheaded fundraising efforts for the hospital's new patient tower and upgraded surgery suites, raising nearly $15 million. Lauffer has also been instrumental in expanding the hospital's Corporate Partners program and breast cancer fundraising efforts. Her leadership extended to community outreach and education initiatives during the COVID-19 pandemic and strategic marketing programs to support expanded service lines.
Why It's Important?
Lauffer's retirement marks the end of a significant era for the Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital Foundation, as her leadership has been pivotal in expanding healthcare services and strengthening philanthropy in the Santa Clarita Valley. Her efforts have not only enhanced the hospital's infrastructure but also its community engagement and support. The initiatives she led have had a lasting impact on the hospital's ability to provide critical healthcare services, including the addition of a second cardiovascular lab and the rebranding of the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Center. Her departure may lead to a transition period for the foundation as it seeks to maintain the momentum she established in fundraising and community partnerships.
What's Next?
Following her retirement, Lauffer plans to remain in Valencia and continue supporting the hospital and the broader community. The hospital will likely begin the search for a successor who can continue her legacy of innovation and community engagement. The foundation may also focus on sustaining the programs and partnerships Lauffer developed, ensuring that the hospital's services and outreach continue to grow. Stakeholders, including hospital leadership and community partners, will play a crucial role in this transition, aiming to uphold the standards and achievements set during Lauffer's tenure.
