What's Happening?
The World Food Programme (WFP) Caribbean is actively seeking civil society and non-governmental organizations based in Jamaica to bolster the nation's capacity for rapid, large-scale in-kind food assistance during national emergencies. This initiative
is part of the WFP Multi-Country Strategic Plan (2022–2026) and aims to enhance Jamaica's emergency preparedness and response mechanisms. The program focuses on ensuring that households affected by disasters have access to essential food and nutrition support both during and after crises. Eligible organizations are expected to demonstrate operational capabilities for emergency response, food distribution, community engagement, and coordination with humanitarian partners. Key activities supported include rapid food distribution, storage and kitting of emergency food supplies, and community sensitization campaigns to inform the public about available assistance.
