China's Ministry of State Security has accused the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) of conducting a prolonged cyberattack on China's national timekeeping infrastructure. According to the MSS, the NSA gained
access to the National Time Service Center systems in April 2023 by exploiting a vulnerability in employees' mobile devices.
