Bell Helicopter has partnered with Near Earth Autonomy to develop an uncrewed cargo variant of the Bell 505 helicopter. This collaboration aims to create an autonomous rotorcraft capable of providing logistical support in military operations. The U.S.
Naval Air Systems Command has awarded a contract to support the development of this rotorcraft, which will integrate Near Earth's Captain flight autonomy system with the Bell 505 airframe. The project is part of the U.S. Marine Corps' Medium Aerial Resupply Vehicle – Expeditionary Logistics (MARV-EL) program. The autonomous helicopter is designed to transport cargo without endangering personnel, offering a payload capacity of at least 600 kg and a combat radius of 100 nautical miles.
