What's Happening?
EACON Mining Technology has successfully deployed a new electric autonomous haulage solution at Shougang Group's Dashihe Iron Ore Mine. This initiative involved commissioning 16 battery electric vehicles
(BEVs) developed in collaboration with Yutong, a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. The deployment marks the second collaboration between EACON and Shougang Group, following a previous project at Shuichang Iron Ore Mine. The Dashihe deployment establishes one of China's most advanced autonomous, zero-emission haulage fleets, powered by the mine's solar energy. The project aims to cut emissions while increasing productivity, with truck utilization rising by 4-5% due to continuous 24/7 autonomous operations. EACON's success at Dashihe provides a replicable model for other mines seeking intelligent, low-carbon transformation.
Why It's Important?
The deployment of autonomous BEVs at Dashihe Iron Ore Mine represents a significant advancement in sustainable mining practices. By reducing emissions and enhancing productivity, the project supports Shougang Group's strategy for digital transformation and high-quality, low-carbon mining. The initiative showcases how autonomous technology can optimize production organization, costs, and management efficiency. EACON's technology leadership and collaboration with OEMs like Yutong highlight the potential for autonomous, zero-emission operations to transform the mining industry. This project sets a new benchmark for smart, clean mining, offering a model for other traditional mines to follow in their pursuit of sustainability.
What's Next?
EACON plans to extend the proven model from Dashihe to Australia, where miners are seeking scalable, low-emission autonomy solutions. The company's first Australian deployment with Thiess and Norton Gold Fields marks a key step in its regional expansion, supported by a new West Perth office. As the mining industry continues to prioritize sustainability, EACON's autonomous BEV solutions are likely to gain traction, driving cleaner, smarter, and more productive operations globally.
Beyond the Headlines
The deployment of autonomous BEVs at Dashihe Iron Ore Mine not only enhances operational efficiency but also contributes to broader environmental goals. By integrating full autonomy with electrification, the project exemplifies the next stage of zero-emission mining. This initiative underscores the importance of technological innovation in achieving sustainable development and operational excellence in the mining sector.
