What's Happening?
MyEasyFarm, a regenerative AgTech startup, has partnered with Anthesis Group to digitally transform the AgriCarbon programme in South Africa. This collaboration aims to improve data management, transparency,
and scalability of the carbon farming initiative. AgriCarbon, certified under Verra’s VM0042 methodology, supports farmers in adopting regenerative agriculture while generating carbon credits. Since its inception in 2021, the programme has issued over 39,000 tonnes of carbon credits and engaged 29 farmers across 17,582 hectares. The partnership will utilize MyEasyFarm's MyEasyCarbon platform to enhance data collection, monitoring, and compliance, thereby increasing the programme's efficiency and transparency.
Why It's Important?
The partnership between MyEasyFarm and Anthesis Group is crucial for advancing sustainable agriculture in South Africa. By digitizing the AgriCarbon programme, the initiative can scale more effectively, encouraging more farmers to adopt regenerative practices. This not only aids in reducing agricultural emissions but also improves soil health and climate resilience. The enhanced transparency and data accuracy provided by the MyEasyCarbon platform can boost confidence in carbon credits, making them more attractive to investors and stakeholders. As agriculture faces increasing pressure to mitigate climate change impacts, such innovations are vital for the sector's sustainable future.
