What's Happening?
The Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies, which includes over 180 agencies across North America and Israel, is addressing the structural burnout faced by professionals in Jewish human services. The network
highlights the increasing demands on these professionals due to rising mental health needs, antisemitism, and political polarization. In response, the network is advocating for systemic solutions, including creating spaces for personal gathering and collaboration, and offering support through online affinity groups and 'Holding Space' sessions. These initiatives aim to reduce isolation and provide a platform for sharing strategies and co-developing solutions.
Why It's Important?
The burnout among Jewish human service professionals poses a significant threat to the resilience of Jewish communities. By addressing this issue, the network aims to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of services provided to over two million clients annually. The initiatives not only support the well-being of professionals but also enhance the capacity of agencies to meet the growing demands of their communities. This approach highlights the importance of systemic support and collaboration in addressing complex social challenges.
What's Next?
The network plans to develop an immersive learning experience for professionals from North America and Israel to explore new models for addressing burnout. This initiative will further strengthen the collaboration between agencies and enhance their ability to provide effective services. Additionally, the network will continue to advocate for policy changes and resource investment to support the long-term well-being of professionals and the communities they serve.
