Ameresco, Inc., a prominent energy solutions provider, has partnered with the City of Olympia, Washington, to commence a $17 million building retrofit project at the Olympia Armory. The project includes the installation of a 150-kW solar photovoltaic system and a 125-kW battery energy storage system, which will support on-site energy generation and cost reductions. Originally constructed in 1939, the Armory has served various community functions and was acquired by the City in 2022. The retrofit project is part of a broader plan to repurpose the building as a creative campus and arts center. Key upgrades will include seismic structural enhancements, modern fire suppression systems, ADA-compliant ramps, and improved ventilation and lighting systems. The project is expected to take approximately 18 months to complete.
