What's Happening?
Valent U.S.A. has announced changes to the label of Maverick® Corn Herbicide, offering new options for corn growers. The updated label includes split applications and use on sweet corn, with improved flexibility
related to soil types and timing. The maximum preemergence application rate for medium and fine-textured soils is now 32 fl. oz./A per year, with specific rates for coarse soils. These changes aim to enhance weed control efficacy and crop rotation flexibility, reducing rotational restrictions for crops like alfalfa and grain sorghum.
Why It's Important?
The label changes provide corn growers with more options to tailor herbicide applications to their specific soil types, potentially improving weed control and crop yields. The reduced rotational restrictions enhance crop rotation flexibility, allowing growers to diversify their planting strategies and optimize land use. This can lead to increased profitability and sustainability in corn production. The approval for use in sweet corn production expands the herbicide's applicability, benefiting growers in regions where sweet corn is a significant crop.
