Offgrid Energy Labs, an Indian battery innovation company, has inaugurated its first ZincGel pilot manufacturing facility in Hook, Hampshire, UK. This facility marks the commercial debut of its zinc-bromine battery technology, initially developed in India.
The 10 MWh demonstration line aims to accelerate the global adoption of safe, long-duration energy storage solutions. The ZincGel technology is designed for manufacturability, scalability, and commercial viability, offering a non-flammable alternative to lithium-ion systems. It is engineered to deliver 100 percent depth of discharge daily across a 6-to-16-hour discharge range and a 20-year operating life. The launch coincides with the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), enhancing the movement of professional talent between the countries.
