The City of Lake Charles has announced its schedule for observing Labor Day on Monday, September 7, 2026. All city offices and several services will be closed for the holiday. This includes a suspension of trash, garbage, and recycling collection services on Labor Day.
Specifically, Monday's trash and garbage routes will be collected on Tuesday, September 8, and Tuesday's routes will be collected on Wednesday, September 9. The regular collection schedule will resume on Thursday, September 10, and Friday, September 11. All recycling operations, including the Nelson Ball Field/Alma Lane facility, the Wood Waste Facility, and the Roving Green Truck, will also be closed on September 7 and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, September 8. Additionally, all Department of Public Works services and other City departments, including Lake Charles City Hall, will be closed on Labor Day and reopen on Tuesday, September 8.
