What's Happening?
Bangladesh is taking significant steps towards entering the global space economy by commissioning a feasibility study to explore the development of its own rockets, satellites, and a dedicated space industrial park. The Bangladesh Space Research and Remote
Sensing Organisation (SPARRSO) has signed an agreement with Development Design Consultants Limited to conduct this study, which is expected to be completed by June 2026. The study will focus on three main components: a rocket manufacturing and launch station, a satellite manufacturing industry with an Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) laboratory, and a space industrial park. The initiative aims to build long-term space capabilities, enhance self-reliance, boost foreign revenue, and develop skilled talent in the country. Coastal areas in Patuakhali's Kalapara, Chattogram's Anwara, and the Sundarbans are being considered for the launch station. The project is ambitious, requiring significant funding and foreign investment, with potential collaborations with countries like China.
