What's Happening?
Governor Kathy Hochul has declared June 2026 as LGBTQ+ Pride Month in New York, directing state buildings and landmarks to display Pride flags and illuminate in Pride colors. This initiative celebrates New York's historical role in the LGBTQ+ rights movement
and reaffirms the state's commitment to protecting LGBTQ+ rights. Notable landmarks such as One World Trade Center, the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, and the Empire State Plaza will participate in the illumination. Additionally, Pride flags will be flown at numerous state office buildings and parks. The state is also promoting over 100 Pride celebrations and supporting initiatives for LGBTQ+ youth and gender-affirming care.
