What's Happening?
Navantia UK has commenced the construction of the first Fleet Solid Support (FSS) ship for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary. The steel-cutting ceremony for the RFA Resurgent took place on December 3, 2025, at
the Appledore shipyard in North Devon. The FSS ships are designed to provide at-sea resupply of munitions, spares, food, and other essential stores. Navantia, as the prime contractor in the Team Resolute consortium, secured the GBP1.6 billion contract in January 2023. The construction involves multiple shipyards, with the bulk of the work occurring at Harland & Wolff in Belfast.
