What's Happening?
Democratic Congressman Josh Gottheimer from New Jersey has announced the allocation of over $42 million in federal funding for law enforcement and security projects in Bergen, Passaic, and Sussex counties. This funding, secured through negotiations with
the White House, will be used to purchase upgraded radios, drones, active-shooter and mass-casualty response equipment, and to fund K-9 training. Additionally, municipalities may build or improve emergency operations centers. The funding comes from several federal programs, including the State Homeland Security Program and the Urban Area Security Initiative. This allocation is in addition to $8.5 million previously awarded to help New Jersey prepare for the World Cup, bringing the total secured for state law enforcement since June to more than $50 million.
