A 34-year-old male pedestrian was fatally struck by a Toyota Prius on northbound US-395 near Vista Point in Mono County on the evening of April 6, 2026. The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred around 8:19 p.m. when the pedestrian,
who was walking and pushing a bicycle, was hit by a 2017 Toyota Prius driven by Alexandria L. The impact propelled the pedestrian into a dirt-and-rock embankment, resulting in immediate major injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the CHP Bishop Area and the Mono County Sheriff’s Office. The driver and her passenger, Uriel M., sustained minor injuries. The identity of the pedestrian will be released by the Brune Mortuary Office after notifying the next of kin. The crash is currently under investigation.
