Russia's deputy prime minister, Denis Manturov, has announced that a new widebody twinjet family could be powered by a derivative of the Aviadvigatel PD-35 engine, known as the PD-26. This engine is proposed to have a thrust capability of 26t (255kN) and is being considered for a 100t military transport aircraft. The United Aircraft Corporation has filed a patent for a widebody twinjet family, similar to the Boeing 787, which would accommodate 240-320 passengers. The PD-26 engine is also being considered for use in a widebody passenger airliner.
