What's Happening?
UNICEF is seeking a consultant for a four-month remote assignment to revise its existing Rights & Results Programming (RRP) learning program. This revision aims to ensure the program's continued relevance and alignment with the UNICEF Strategic Plan 2026–2029,
the revised Country Programme Planning (CPP) Guidance, and organizational changes introduced through the Future Focus Initiative (FFI). The consultant will preserve the program’s core approach and structure while updating its content, references, practical examples, exercises, and facilitation materials. The role requires an advanced university degree in Education, Adult Education and Learning, Instructional Design, or a related field, along with at least 15 years of proven experience in adult learning and capacity development, instructional design, and curriculum development. Fluency in English is essential.
Why It's Important?
This revision is critical for ensuring that UNICEF staff are equipped with the most current and effective knowledge and skills to implement rights-based and results-oriented programming. The alignment with the new Strategic Plan and CPP Guidance is vital for maintaining coherence across UNICEF's global operations and maximizing its impact on children's rights. By updating the learning program, UNICEF aims to enhance the capacity of its staff to translate complex technical concepts and policy frameworks into engaging, practical, and results-oriented training. This will directly influence the quality and effectiveness of UNICEF's programs in over 190 countries and territories, ultimately contributing to better outcomes for children worldwide. The focus on adult-learning principles ensures that the training is relevant and applicable to experienced professionals.
What's Next?
The consultant will work closely with UNICEF's Office of Staff Education (OSE) to review, validate, and finalize the revised learning package. This will involve a detailed analysis of existing materials, identification of content and learning gaps, and the development of new modules, exercises, and case studies. The revised program will be designed for both self-paced online learning and facilitated face-to-face training, catering to diverse learning needs and contexts. Upon completion, the updated RRP learning program will be rolled out to UNICEF staff globally, ensuring that all personnel are proficient in the latest programming approaches and organizational strategies. This continuous professional development is essential for UNICEF to remain agile and effective in addressing evolving global challenges.
Beyond the Headlines
The revision of UNICEF's RRP learning program reflects a broader organizational commitment to continuous improvement and adaptation in the face of changing global dynamics. It underscores the importance of internal capacity building as a cornerstone of effective humanitarian and development work. By investing in its staff's professional development, UNICEF reinforces its ability to advocate for and protect the rights of every child. This initiative also highlights the evolving nature of international development, where strategic planning, results-based management, and human rights-based approaches are increasingly integrated. The program's update will not only enhance individual staff competencies but also strengthen UNICEF's institutional effectiveness and its leadership role in promoting child well-being on a global scale.
